‘Tree for Me’ Campaign

Noor is supporting the City of Toronto’s ‘Every Tree Counts‘ initiative to increase the tree canopy in the city to 40% (from the current 27%).  Resource: Why Plant Trees?

The ‘Tree for Me‘ project provides City of Toronto residents the opportunity to receive free of charge up to two trees/shrubs of native species from an offered selection.    Resource: Tree Summary Chart

Tree pick-up is at Noor Cultural Centre on Sunday October 15, between 2 and 5 pm. 

There will be a vegan lunch served throughout, and a workshop from 3-4 pm:

Everyone is welcome, whether picking up a tree or not.

To Book Your Tree(s) – 

1) Determine your eligibility : anyone who owns/is authorized to plant on private land in the City of Toronto is eligible to receive up to two free trees/shrubs.  The trees/shrubs must be planted within the City of Toronto.

2) Match with your tree(s): a quiz will match you with the most viable tree from those available, based on your environmental conditions.  Take the quiz here (See also: this Soil Texture Test, which may be useful for answering the quiz)

3) Register for your tree(s):  click here to register for the tree(s) recommended for you.  Make sure to select the ‘Noor Cultural Centre’ event from the available location options.  Registration deadline: Thursday October 12, 5 pm.

4) Pick up your tree(s): on Sunday October 15, between 2 and 5 pm, from Noor Cultural Centre.  Mulch and planting/care instructions will be provided.
